Who am I?
I’m Anna Spooner. I am a Stage 2 Master of Wine student, living in the Southern Rhône with my husband, daughter and three dogs.
In this little patch of Provence I fill my days creating content for my online wine courses, hosting online tastings or taking people on private tours of the region.
In my spare time (and believe me, there is not a lot of that with a 6 month old and a home grown business) you will either find me shopping for food, cooking food or eating food. When I’m not eating or thinking about eating, I enjoy being outdoors - whether it’s walking the dogs, skiing or gardening. Anything that gets the sun on my face.
Wine credentials
I spent a decade in the wine trade in the UK working first in wine marketing and then in education and tastings. Over that decade I completed Levels 2, 3 and 4 (Diploma) of my WSET and then went on to teach these courses to punters and professionals.
Most recently, I worked for The Wine Society where I headed up their online tastings and events division and I still continue to help them out as a consultant for the Tastings Team and also the Sustainability Team (a big passion of mine). Whilst there I won the business the coveted Decanter Online Wine Experience Award two years in a row.
I’ve written drinks content for The Financial Time, Evening Standard, GQ and Gentleman’s Journal and I was Runner Up in the Jancis Robinson Writing Competition.
